The new moon in Scorpio is near Conjunction to its ruler, Mars. It is opposite Uranus in TaurusAnd Trine Neptune in Pisces.
This new moon is exceptionally strong, to say the least.
Let’s talk about the good, the bad, and the unexpected about the new moon in Scorpio.
The Good: New Moon conjunct its ruler and trine Neptune
The new moon is in conjunction with Mars. Mars is based in Scorpio. This is definitely good news! Mars in Scorpio is powerful, resilient and deeply connected to his desire nature. When Mars in Scorpio wants something, he goes for it.
Our desires are the most powerful force in the universe. Our desires are what the universe wants to manifest through us.
Mars in Scorpio knows this very well. When Mars, Sun, and Moon align with the New Moon in Scorpio, our desires and intentions gain incredible momentum toward manifestation.
The fact that this is Mars’ new moon Trine Neptune in Pisces is a nice bonus. This soulful water trine lends a touch of almost psychic intuition. We simply “know” what to do, as if the universe itself were directing our steps.
The Bad: Mars opposite Uranus
HOWEVER. It’s not all sunshine and roses. The God of heaven himself, Uranus is directly opposite the new moon from the bull. With Uranus in the mix, the Sun-Moon-Mars-Neptune flowing water trine could easily turn into a thunderstorm.
Not that Mars-Uranus oppositions are bad per se, but there is definitely a chance of disruption.
Mars can get angry. Uranus is unpredictable. Taurus-Scorpio is the most rigid (read stubborn) axis of the zodiac, so both Mars and Uranus stick to their guns.
Mars in Scorpio is determined to get his way. But Uranus, with its unpredictable, freedom-loving and rebellious energy, will not give in easily. This conflict of wills can lead to impulsive actions, rebellious behavior, and a tendency to overstep boundaries.
The unexpected
With the new moon in Scorpio we have a focused Mars. A supportive Water trine with Neptune. And a potentially disruptive opposition with Uranus.
What could happen? As the Uranus saying goes, “Expect the unexpected.”
Let’s talk a little about the “unexpected.”
We may fear the unexpected. We can fear it, resist it, or try to control it. Perhaps we are secretly waiting for it to “rescue” us from an unfulfilling routine or monotonous life.
The “unexpected” is the part of us that has been silenced, suppressed, or unacknowledged. With the new moon in Scorpio, this part of us wants to be seen. It wants to come out.
Of course there are things in life that happen To us. Sometimes we are at the mercy of fate. But often – and especially when we have an oppositional aspect – we are the ones who trigger a seemingly unexpected turn of events.
As Mars opposes Uranus, it is important to recognize that it is our actions – or inactions – that require Uranus. It is our desires – whether expressed or repressed – that ignite the spark that leads to change.
New Moon in Scorpio – A soldier obeys his conscience and defies orders
The Sabian symbol of the new moon in Scorpio is“A soldier obeys his conscience and defies orders“ couldn’t have more accurately described the energies at play.
This is a very interesting metaphor for many reasons. First, it’s about the importance of asserting our personal values, even when they run counter to society’s demands. We will stand firm and face the consequences no matter what happens.
The Sabian symbol also invites us to think about the polarity “conscience – orders”. One way to look at it is that “Mars” (conjunct the Sun) is our “conscience” and “Uranus” is the unreasonable “commands”.
But the twist – and with Uranus there is always a twist – is to consider whether it is our own Mars conditioning (“I have always done things this way”) that is “telling” us what to do – “acting” in a certain way through deeply rooted standard patterns; whereas Uranus, as our higher – and much more intelligent – self, is the “conscience”.
In other words, just because you want it (believe) it’s right for you.
New Moon in Scorpio – Resentment and Redemption
But as we agreed, Mars in Scorpio doesn’t take no for an answer.
The New Moon in Scorpio can trigger our default patterns of passive aggressiveness and resentment.
Resentment is a psychological state that is triggered when we feel like we deserve “more.” This is especially the case when we feel like we’ve done more than we wanted and we still haven’t achieved the results we expected, while others seem to be reaping the rewards effortlessly.
We then feel “betrayed” and offended. Many people go to great lengths to obtain “justice” or to justify themselves by proving others wrong or not letting them “go scot-free,” even when it goes against their own interest.
While our sense of justice is undeniably important, it is also important to keep in mind that there is always the other side of the story and that there may be a bigger picture that we do not fully understand.
If we haven’t gotten what we wanted (yet), there’s a reason for it – and that reason may have nothing to do with others, but rather with ourselves. Uranus in Taurus reminds us that sometimes in life things are just right are as they appear to be.
New Moon in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus
Sometimes there is no Scorpion complexity. There is no need to find explanations or look for hidden meanings.
Uranus in Taurus is characterized by simplicity and naturalness. Nothing needs to be proven. Nature doesn’t have to prove anything. When we resist Uranus in Taurus, we resist reality.
Instead of forcing our goals and future desires, it is better to stay in the reality of the present moment, even if it is not what we want it to be.
Why?
Because it is precisely the quality of presence that helps us invite positive changes into our lives. It is our ability to accept reality that helps us see opportunities and open new doors.
