November 2023 Astrology – The Hero’s Journey

Welcome November!October is now over, which means solar eclipse season is officially over.

The last lunar eclipse in Taurus caused power outages; I didn’t have internet access for a few days.

Power outages are very archetypal eclipse energies. During a solar eclipse, a light fixture is “eclipsed,” or shadowed, so that it does not function as usual. When we have a solar eclipse, the sun’s disk is eclipsed or shadowed by the moon’s disk.

During a lunar eclipse (like the one we just had), the moon is obscured by the Earth’s shadow. On a symbolic level, this means that there are earthly circumstances that interfere with the Moon’s plans and require our immediate attention.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about astrology, it’s that I should always go by the timing of the universe, not my personal timing. The universe always knows best simply because it has a larger perspective.

But there are times when our individual perspective is important.

If we had the eclipses in October and the most prominent planet was the fateful and transformative Pluto, now in November it is the most prominent planet Marsthe planet of personal will.

We are in Mars-ruled Scorpio season, we have a new moon in Scorpio conjunct Mars, and a brand new Mars synocycle begins in the sign of Scorpio.

This is interesting because Mars is the lower octave of Pluto, meaning there is a relationship between these two planets.

If October brought us eclipses and fateful events (Pluto), November is the time to step back and look within. What does all this mean from an individual perspective?

Mars is our motivation to assert ourselves and achieve what we want. When we activate our inner Mars, we walk the path.

We are on our hero’s journey.

We learn about the world around us. We fail, we get back up, and we fail again. At some point we will reach the finish line, which is a victory in itself regardless of the outcome.

What happens if we don’t activate our inner Mars? We stop trying. We give up. We close ourselves in our little bubble.

But the world doesn’t stop turning. Planets don’t stop orbiting the sun. We still see things happeningTo us. And because we lack Mars training, we don’t know exactly how to deal with life’s challenges and adversities.

That’s why it’s so important to master our inner Mars. This month, especially mid-November, between the new moon in Scorpio and the precise Sun-Mars conjunction, is your chance to get in touch with your inner Mars and begin a brand new two-year hero’s journey.

In November, good things come to those who dare.

But let’s take a look at the most important astrological events of the month:

November 4, 2023 – Saturn goes direct

On November 4, 2023 Saturn goes direct at 0° Pisces. 0° of any sign is a strong degree. It is the purest energy of the sign, as archetypal as possible. The Saturn station invites us to reflect on the meaning of this transit in our lives.

How do you experience the taskmaster of the zodiac in the limitless, imaginative kingdom of Pisces?

Are there certain themes (revealed by the Saturn triggered natal house) that arise in your consciousness? How can a Saturn in Pisces approach help you overcome these issues and improve your life?

November 8, 2023 – Venus enters Libra

On November 8, 2023 Venus enters her home sign Libra.

In elective astrology – where astrologers select auspicious transits to determine the timing of an event – they particularly look for planets with strong essential dignity, that is, when the planet is in either its abode or exaltation sign.

Why this? A planet that has strong essential dignity is believed to function optimally and produce more favorable results.

What does that mean? When Venus resides in Libra, Venus-related topics, events, and activities are favored. Do you want to start dating? Go to a party? Make financial investments? Are you getting a new wardrobe? Now it is time!

The house that Venus’ transit triggers in your chart reveals more about the specific areas of life that will benefit from these favorable Venus energies.

November 10, 2023 – Mercury enters the zodiac sign Sagittarius

On November 10, 2023 Mercury enters Sagittarius. Speaking of essential dignity, Mercury is at a disadvantage in Sagittarius.

Does this mean Mercury in Sagittarius is a negative placement? Not at all.

It’s just that the archetypal Mercury energy – facts over intuition, individual perspective vs. collective perspective, or analytical thinking vs. abstract thinking – aligns very well with signs like Gemini or Vigo, but not as much with Jupiter-ruled signs as Sagittarius or Pisces.

Mercury in Sagittarius looks for “the meaning of it all,” but in searching for the philosophical, absolute truth, he may skip over some important details, which can lead to less than fact-tested conclusions.

But Mercury in Sagittarius can be a transit for many reasons. While it’s great to have a factual, objective Mercury in Gemini in mind when we read the news, for example, life isn’t just about reading the news or looking for cold, hard facts.

Sometimes we need a good Sagittarius story. Mercury in Sagittarius is the storyteller of the zodiac.

When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our minds become more imaginative and inquiring. Our communication, more colorful and appealing. Our view of the world expands and we begin to see the world through the Sagittarius lens of opportunity and adventure.

November 13, 2023 – New Moon in Scorpio

We have one on November 13, 2023 New moon at 20° Scorpio. The new moon in Scorpio is in close conjunction with its ruler Mars. The Sun and Mars are in close proximity all month long, but with the new moon in Scorpio, the moon joins the Halloween party.

The mantra of the New Moon in Scorpio is: “Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.”

Your desires are the most powerful force in the universe. Your desires are what the universe wants to happen in the world. Your desires are what the universe wants to manifest through you.

Becoming aware of what you want is the very first step. The New Moon in Scorpio is your heavenly opportunity to gain crystal-clear clarity about the nature of your deepest desires. This clarity will initiate a powerful co-creative journey with the Universe.

November 18, 2023 – Sun conjunct Mars

On November 18, 2023 The Sun is in conjunction with Mars. When the Sun conjuncts Mars, Mars begins a new two-year synodic cycle, or another hero’s journey.

In your search, sometimes you run, sometimes you rest, sometimes you stop to catch your breath. You will find new challenges along the way. You discover new strengths and get to know new people.

You have no idea what lies ahead. There may be risks and dangers. Some of the obstacles may test you along the way. But it is this journey that will help you grow, learn, and ultimately become a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.

The Sun-Mars transit is sometimes overlooked because we have a Sun-Mars conjunction every two years. We experience an average of 40 Sun-Mars transits over the course of our lives. That’s quite a few hero’s journeys.

We have about 40 opportunities to start over, learning a little more about ourselves and the world we live in on each journey.

Every transit conjunction brings with it a choice: Are you in or are you out?

How many trips have you said “no” to in the past? What are you going to do this time?

Staying in our comfort zone certainly has its advantages. It is comfortable. Nothing can hurt us. But it’s also a bit boring. What you really want can only be found “out there”. Not on the couch.

There is something in the nature of desire that calls us to seek it beyond the confines of our familiar surroundings. It pushes us to explore, take risks and embrace the unknown.

November 24, 2023 – Mars enters Sagittarius

On November 24, 2023, Mars enters Sagittarius.

After coming to terms with our desire (New Moon in Scorpio) and making the decision to embark on a new journey (Sun conjunct Mars), now with Mars in Sagittarius, it’s time to pack our bags and set off on the adventure to prepare.

November 27, 2023 – Full Moon in Gemini

We have one on November 27, 2023 Full moon at 4° Gemini. We’ve talked a lot about Mars this month and will talk about it some more because the full moon in the constellation Gemini is now opposite Mars.

We are now facing Mars, and this new perspective allows us to look at our desires from a more objective perspective and identify some otherwise hidden or overlooked drivers and motivations.

The full moon in Gemini is the missing piece of the puzzle. You may now have a clear idea of what you want, but you may not know exactly how to get there. “Ah, that’s why I want this and that’s how I’m going to get it.”

The Full Moon in Gemini, with its curious and objective energy, will reveal the answer. This time, Pluto (full moon trine) is also on your side, adding depth and transformative power to your search.
